EMULATION MOVIES

This site features movies from Capcom's best fighting game, Street Fighter Alpha 3 in VERY small file sizes, which can be downloaded within a split second! Let me explain how this is achieved. Firstly, you need an emulator and roms to be able to playback the movies. Secondly, it works by recording the input from your keyboard/gamepad, NOT by recording the picture. The advantage gained from this is smooth, ultra high quality movies that you can view and store at low bandwidth. The only disadvantage is that you cannot jump to a particular part of the movie or fast forward and rewind. You can only watch it from start to finish.

Section 1 - MAME

Here's a selection of netplay movies I've recorded, featuring myself against unknown players from around the world, who I've never met or fought with before. These matches do not represent any player's true skill because of the delay / lag caused by our slow internet connections, and because we have no choice but to use inferior 4-button gamepads.

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Download and install Mame32 0.59 or 0.6 with Kaillera support. (2.8Mb).
2) Download Street Fighter Alpha 3 USA roms (sfa3.zip) (23.2Mb).

Recording Input

1) Run Mame32 and select File Menu => Play and Record Input...

OR

1) To record a Kaillera netplay game online, hold CTRL+SHIFT before selecting Start Game.
2) Quit game to stop recording.

Playback Input

1) Download any of the zip files from the Mame section and unzip to c:\program files\mame32\inp (about 15K each!).
2) Run Mame32 and select File Menu => Playback Kaillera Input...
3) Open sfa3_xx.inp and wait for game to load.

Section 2 - KAWAKS

Unfortunately, Kawaks does not support recording of netplay games. Here's a selection of offline movies, featuring expert European players. Again, none of these represents a player's true ability because of the PC controllers used and some control bugs, that have since been fixed.

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Download and install the latest version of Win Kawaks.
2) Download Street Fighter Alpha 3 USA roms (sfa3.zip) (23.2Mb).
3) Download any of the zip files from the Kawaks section and unzip to winkawaks\recinput (about 50K each!).
4) Run Kawaks and load sfa3 (version 980904), by selecting File Menu => Load Game....

Recording Input

1) Select File Menu => Record Input...

Playback Input

1) Select File Menu => Replay Input...
